Undergraduate Research Guide: Family Histories

Return to listing of all Research Guides.

Scope

This Research Guide is intended to help students get started on researching their family histories. It includes information and resources which cover the historical reasons why different ethnic groups left their country of origin and emigrated to the United States. There are many published guides and handbooks available to assist beginning genealogists. A MadCat search should turn up a range of publications from which to choose. Students should also be aware that the Wisconsin Historical Society Library, located just across from College Library, is one of the best family history resources in the country.
