Shifting at the Library

Merging Collections


The books have moved!  Visitors to College Library may have noticed that two of our collections (1191 and Main) have merged.  The new Main Collection is now split between Rooms 1191 and 3191 with call numbers A - N  on the first floor and call numbers ranging from P - Z  still housed in Room 3191.  Feel free to check with library staff is you're having difficulty locating a specific item.

Video Games Available at College Library

College Library's video game collection now includes over 110 titles for Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360 - some of the recently added titles include Grand Theft Auto IV, House of the Dead, NBA Live 08, Darkness, Viking: Battle for Asgard, Okami, and Sega Superstars Tennis.  Video games have a one week loan period and are not be renewable.  You can find the games collection on the first floor of College Library in the Open Book Café.  Please send questions, comments, and suggestions for purchases to Kelli Keclik.

New Issue of Illumination Now Available

Illumination, Spring 2008

The Spring 2008 issue of Illumination: The Undergraduate Journal of Humanities is now available at the Information Desk at College Library. The journal features artwork by sixteen undergraduate artists including the provocative cover image by Ellen Siebers.  A number of those artists currently have work featured on the walls of Open Book, Room 1250, in College Library.  Also included in the issue are a number of literary efforts, both poetry and prose, and an essay by Adam Sitte entitled on "Mutaween: The Acceptablity of Religious Police and Moral Authority in Islamic Law." This year's editor-in-chief is Stephanie Krubsack.

Library Research Award Winners Announced

College Library, in conjunction with the Undergraduate Symposium, recently awarded two research prizes to Matthew Pesko and "Wild Bill" Marquardt.  Pesko received the "Library Research Award" for his research on increasing economic opportunities for individuals with disabilities in rural northwest Wisconsin, while Marquardt was named recipient of the Library Research-in-Progress Award. Marquardt is researching the depiction of Native Americans in Wisconsin in the media at the beginning of the 20th century. He is specifically focusing on the Skunk Hill Off-Reservation Indian Community in Wood County, WI. Both young men received certificates and cash prizes at the Undergraduate Symposium's award ceremony on Wednesday, April 16.
