Databases
Testing and Education Reference Center -- summarizes undergraduate, graduate and continuing education programs in the United States and Canada. The database includes full-text test preparation guides such as GRE, LSAT, and TOEFL. Free registration is required for the "Scholarship Search" and "Grad Schools Want You" features.
Campus Resources
Campus Advising Services -- Undergraduate Advising Toolkit -- contains links to UW-Madison sites such as the Registar's Office and the Transfer Information System.
Cross-College Advising Service -- 10 Ingraham Hall --provides career and school advising and links to academic services.
Help On-line -- University of Wisconsin System -- includes links to UW campus homepages, transfer information, and information on applying for financial aid.
Internet Sites
WISCareers -- The Education section gives information on more than 3,400 schools, including programs of study, expenses, athletics and student life. It has links to school home pages and on-line applications. This site is provided by the UW-Madison School of Education Center on Education and Work.
College Source Online -- the Career Guidance Foundation -- searchable database of complete undergraduate and graduate catalogs for 17,197 U.S. colleges and universities. Requires users to register for a free 10-day trial.
Web U.S. Higher Education -- University of Texas at Austin -- Links to the home pages of regionally-accredited institutions of higher education in the United States. Includes links to more than 1490 four-year universities and more than 790 community colleges.
US News.com Graduate School-- contains descriptions, comparisons, rankings and best values for colleges and graduate schools. Also includes information on college costs, financial aid and scholarships.
Peterson's Colleges, Career Information & Test Prep -- offers a number of services including a database of information on undergraduate, graduate, adult learning, continuing education, and distance learning programs. Many services require registration.
HBCU-central.com -- Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCU) has a comprehensive listing of schools with substantially African American enrollment. This site also offers scholarship information and job finding services.
College Is Possible -- American Council on Education -- Resource for parents and students that provides information on preparing for college, choosing the right college, and funding a college education. Includes information for returning and adult students.
CollegeNET -- includes a College Search section that allows a user to search for schools by name, location, major, tuition, enrollment size, and type of school.
The College Board -- select "Finding the Right College," to search a database of over 3500 colleges by criteria such as location, type of school, and financial aid. Information about each school is derived from the College Board Annual Survey of Colleges. Allows users to view information on up to three colleges at the same time for comparison.
